This paper examines the evidence of authorship of the five-book compilation known as Jacobus, its title in three copies, or the Codex Calixtinus in honour of one of its supposed authors, or the Liber Sancti Jacobi on account of its contents which relate in one way or another to St James the Greater, Apostle of Spain. Traditionally attributed to the authorship of Aymericus Picaudus, priest of Parthenay, in fact Aymericus Picaudus is documented only as the author of one of the songs in the added quire at the end of Book V, and in the False Bull of Pope Innocent, also among the additions.
